Nails Hackes

Use White Nail Polish As Your Base
If your shade of choice falls on the neon spectrum, apply a layer of white nail polish after your base coat — but before your bright shade — to make it really pop!
Use an Eyeliner Brush for Decals & Cleanup

While cotton swabs can really come in handy, they’re not quite as thin and precise as an eyeliner brush. Use this slick little tool to clean up any smudges around your nail bed or to create floral decals like this sonic bloom mani.

Line Your Nails With Vaseline Before Painting

Before you even begin your paint job, use your fingers, a cotton swab or your liner brush to apply Vaseline on the skin around your nails and cuticles. The Vaseline will act as a barrier so you can easily wipe away any mistakes your shaky hands make!

#TBT: Jane Birkin

Jane-Birkin-720x1036Chances are that cool-girl Jane Birkin would absolutely detest the word chic for fear of being cliché. Come on, the iconic Hermes Birkin bag wasn’t named after her for nothing! That’s right, a $10,000+ handbag named after a woman who favored carrying a straw basket. Bohemian yet also refined, this British actress and singer truly understood the art of letting your natural beauty shine through. We can’t all be graced with Jane’s astonishing looks, but we can certainly fake it! Here’s how:

Jane’s simple, slept-in hair is every woman’s dream ‘do. Unfortunately, we aren’t all #blessed with that perfect God-given texture.  To mimic her look, blow dry your hair straight with a smoothing product such as Living Proof Straight Spray ($29)...

SAG Beauty Trends

sag-beauty-trends-720x540The 2015 SAG Awards saw some serious glamour — and we’re not just talking about the floor-grazing gowns. Hair and makeup were elegant, sophisticated, and, for the most part, rather predictable (although still beautiful).

While color was certainly a sartorial trend, classic dark eyes and light lips and the staple red carpet red lip were key beauty trends. Hair had less texture than the Golden Globes, actresses opted instead for sleeker blowouts and clean updos.

Here are our favorite SAG beauty trends:

The Sleek, Side Part:
As seen on Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon, Natasha Lyonne
While Emma and Reese chose to wear their tresses in a very deliberate, side-parted pony, Natasha opted for a more retro-glam vibe with an extremely exaggerated side part and billowing strands...

How To Look Like Debbie Harry

Debbie Harry is well known for being a blondie, both with her hair and her band. However, her statement-making makeup left just as much of an impression, especially in today’s landscape of “go bold or go home.” Debbie paired her bleached locks with bright “look at me” cosmetics that were the total opposite of natural. While less-is-more is definitely having a moment, sometimes occasions call for a full, daring face of makeup. And no, not just for a costume party!

Pretty much the entire NARS Christopher Kane Collection, described as “neoneutral,” screams Debbie Harry. The Illuminating Multiple ($39) in Quantum looks like a shocking magenta, but it’s actually rather sheer and totally wearable on eyes, lips, and cheeks...

Favorites: The Headpiece

Maybe it’s festival season looming on the horizon that’s got us all gushy for headpieces. Or perhaps it’s just spring and blooming flowers. Either way, the trend du jour is a kick-ass, statement-making headpiece (sometimes referred to as an embellished headband, worn around the head instead of on top). Cover up a bad hair day or accessories a blasé outfit by adorning your crown with, well, a crown!

Here are a few favorites to get you inspired:

Forever 21 Chain Head Piece ($4) – At $4 each, buy the gold and silver.
Forever 21 Rhinestone Flower Head Piece ($9) – This combines everything we love about headpieces: flowers, rhinestones, and gold!
Nasty Gal Crown Royal Headband ($14, landing image) – Get your retro vibe on with this forehead-grazing antique pendent...

When I grow up, I want a body like Giselle and a boyfriend that looks like Tom Brady.

I am printing out this picture and taping it to my fridge. This way every time I go in for a snack, I will seriously think twice before eating it.
Oh yeah, and her hair and makeup look amaze (I love how she’s wearing her hair back so that her gorgeous face is the focal point… talk about great cheekbones)! But the body… and the boy… damn, that’s just pure hotness! If only they could package and sell it…

Picture is from last night’s Costume Institute Gala in NYC.

Face Value: The Oscars 2015

There are certain Oscar night prerequisites: Gorgeous body-hugging gowns, sleek and sophisticated hair styles, and perfectly smoked eyes… and this Oscars did not disappoint. While glam and good behavior are always showcased at the Academy Awards (hey, this isn’t The Grammys!), it’s the red carpet that had us salivating at flawless complexions and impossibly shiny tresses. Here, our favorite faces of the Oscars 2015.

Dakota Johnson – Arguably the hottest actress of the moment, Dakota definitely held her own. The pony is very reminiscent of 50 Shades Of Grey character Anastasia Steele, and I would’ve preferred hair down and loose, but I’m willing to overlook. The red lip, on the other hand, was all sorts of sexiness...

Actress Dree Hemingway’s DIY Healthy Hair Tips

Just in time for warmer weather and divine sunshine, super sexy actress and model, Dree Hemingway, offers up her exclusive Do-It-Yourself tip for keeping hair healthy while still enjoying optimal outdoor time.

“I put olive oil and sunscreen in my hair when I’m at the beach. It saves my ends from getting damaged and ends up saving me from expensive treatments when I return to reality,” says  Dree.

While sun and swim are enjoyable recreational activities, the sun and saltwater can take a huge toll on hair and skin. UV rays can damage the hair shaft, cause split ends and oxidize color-treated hair, while salt water immediately dries out those luscious locks by depleting their natural oils and making them appear lifeless and dull...

Back To Basics: Pajama Pants Aren’t Just For Bedtime

We all have days when the last thing we want to do is get out of bed, let alone put on tight jeans. Maybe it’s from a lack of sleep, feeling stressed at work, or that extra glass of rosé the night before. Whatever your reason may be, you need some options for outfits that make you feel like you just rolled out of bed, but not look like it.

Recently, celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Minka Kelly have been spotted wearing the silk pajama pant trend while running errands. While the look can be daytime casual, it is easily upgradable for a night out as well.
